Lafayette Jeff High School junior guard Brooks Barnhizer was one of six student-athletes named to the Indiana Junior All-Star Basketball Team by the Indianapolis Star.
Barnhizer, who averaged 20.8 points and 9.5 rebounds for the Bronchos last season, is one of six student-athletes named to the Core Group for the Junior All-Stars. The Junior All-Stars are scheduled to play the Kentucky Junior All-Stars June 1 at Floyd Central High School. The Core Group will play a second game against the Indiana Girls Senior All-Stars June 3 at a site to be announced.
The Junior All-Star Team is selected by the 20-member Indiana Basketball Coaches Association All-State Panel.
In addition to the six selected to the Core Group, there are seven players selected to a Red Group and seven named to a Blue Group. The Red and Blue groups will play only one game this summer.
Barnhizer is joined on the Core Group by Caleb Furst (Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian), Trey Kaufman (Silver Creek), J.R. Konieczny (South Bend St. Joseph’s), Khristian Lander (Evansville Reitz) and Keon Thompson (Merrillville).
Barnhizer helped Lafayette Jeff to a 21-5 overall record in 2019-20, the North Central Conference Championship with an 8-1 mark and a school record for single-season victories.
