Bronchos News · Alyssa Mitchem Named Head Girls Soccer Coach

Alyssa Mitchem has been named the new head girls soccer coach at Lafayette Jefferson High School, according to LJHS athletic director Joe Hernandez.

“We are very excited to welcome Coach Mitchem to the Broncho family,” says Hernandez.  “She is a social worker in the Lafayette School Corporation and a former coach in our system.  She enjoyed a great amount of success last year by leading West Lafayette to a Sectional Championship, and we are looking forward to her bringing that winning experience to the student-athletes Jeff.”

As the head coach at West Lafayette High School last season, Mitchem led the team to the Sectional title in her first year.  She served as the Tecumseh Junior High School soccer coach for the 2016-18 seasons.  Mitchem has also coached with the Boilers Football Club in the Lafayette area.

A 2015 graduate of Purdue University, Mitchem earned her master’s degree from Indiana last May.  She has served as the school social worker at Tecumseh Junior High since July of 2019.  In addition, Mitchem has worked at Battle Ground Middle School, Southwestern Middle School and with the Lafayette Department of Child Services.
